LASHKARGAH: Taliban attacked a security post in Nawzad district of Helmand province, injuring seven police, an official said Tuesday.

A police vehicle was also destroyed in the attack in Barakzai area, a security official told AIP on condition of anonymity.

He said police returned fire, killing a local Taliban commander Maulvi Attaullah, adding Taliban might also have suffered casualties but they had no information.

Taliban spokesman Qari Muhammad Yousaf Ahmadi asserted responsibility for the attack but had no details.
