39 suspects of SUPARCO blast arrested

KARACHI: Police on Thursday claimed to have apprehended 39 suspects in connection with the blast that hit the vehicle of Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO). Talking to the our sources, SSP West Amir Farooqi said that the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) conducted several raids in Saeedabad, Mochko and Mawach Goth areas and detained at least 39 suspects belonging to various sectarian, nationalist and other parties. He further said that investigation was underway with the collaboration of intelligence agencies. However, he did not disclose the identification of the suspects or the details of confiscated weapons. Meanwhile, police registered an FIR (362/12) against unidentified men under section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 3/4 of the Explosives Act and sections 324/34 and 427 on the complaint of transporter Altaf Hussain Minhaj and initiated the probe. It may be mentioned here that a passerby was killed while 27 others injured when a roadside bomb targeted the contract vehicle of SUPARCO at Mawach Goth within the precincts of Saeedabad police station on Wednesday.
