25 labourers abducted from Bannu

16 October, 2012

BANNU: At least 25 labourers have been abducted from Bannu district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, police said on Monday.

The police said the incident took place in Mandan Gate area of the district when armed men tempted the labourers by offering them one thousand rupees per day wages before taking them away to North Waziristan. Witnesses said that unidentified persons on two vehicles had come in the area and enticed the labourers who were sitting along the road.

According to the witnesses, the men asked the labourers that they would be given one thousand rupees per day wages if they agreed to work in North Waziristan. The police said a team was sent to the tribal region to trace and recover the missing labourers but of no avail.

Political authorities in the tribal area have also confirmed the reports of labourers' kidnapping.

End.
