2 killed, 20 injured in Jamrud blast

30 April, 2012

LANDIKOTAL: At least two people were killed and 20 injured in a bomb explosion in Jamrud area of Khyber Agency on Sunday.

The explosion occurred near a workshop at Jamrud Bypass Road, official and local sources said. The sources said explosive material had been planted in a car that had been parked at a work shop, some two kilometres away from Jamrud Sports Stadium, where Jamaat-e-Islami is holding a public meeting today (Monday).

According to sources, it was a high-intensity blast that shook the area, spreading fear among the people.

"Two people were killed on the spot and 20 others were injured in the explosion," the sources said, adding that the wounded people were shifted to hospitals in Jamrud and Peshawar. Soon after the incident, the Khasadar Forces officials reached the site of the explosion, cordoned off the area and took necessary measures to avert further loss.

End.
