2 MQM activists among 17 killed in Karachi

KARACHI: Two Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activists were among 17 people killed in the city on Sunday.

A man was killed while another injured in a firing incident in Ilyas Goth in the limits of Super Market Police Station. The deceased was identified as 25-year-old Rafique Baloch while injured was identified as Burhan, 30. The body of Baloch, and injured Burhan were moved to hospital for medico-legal formalities.

In another incident, a man was gunned down by unidentified armed men in Paposh Nagar, in the limits of Paposh Nagar Police Station. The man was identified as Munir Ahmad, a resident of the same area.

Two workers of MQM were gunned down in Chisti Nagar in the limits of Iqbal Market Police Station.

The deceased were identified as Nihal, son of Muhammad Niaz and Boorul Huda, son of Abdul Majeed. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Police said that unidentified armed men intercepted a person, Munir, in Gulbahar area and opened fired on him. He received bullet wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.

Bodies of two men, bearing marks of torture, were also found on Jamshaid Road near Madni Heights in the jurisdiction of Jamshaid Quarter Police Station. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Sahaheed Hospital for autopsy.

Kalakot police also found a body bearing torture marks from Lea Market. The body was moved to hospital for post-mortem. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained until the filing of this report.

Police also found two bodies from Mewashah graveyard in the limits of Pak Colony Police Station. The identities of the victims could not be ascertained until this report was filed.

A man, identified as Tabarruk Ali, was killed in Sherpao Colony in the limits of Quaidabad Police Station.

Another man was shot dead by unidentified armed men in Kunwari Colony in the limits of Pirabad Police Station. The deceased was identified as Nazeer Hussain, a resident of the same area. The body was shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Kabir alias Babar was gunned down in Qasba Colony in the limits of Pirabad Police Station. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.

Meanwhile, a man was gunned down in Sector 1-D, Orangi Town, in the limits of Orangi Town Police Station. He was identified as Jamal.

A man was gunned down in Haji Mureed Goth in the limits of Gulbahar Police Station. He was identified as 42-year-old Munawar, the son Noor Muhammad.

In another violent incident, a man was gun down in Orangi Town, Sector 7-D, in the limits of Orangi Town Police Station. He was identified as 24-year-old Rahim Zaib, the son of Muhammad NazirA man was also shot dead in Surjani Town, Sector 50-D, in the limits of Surjani Town Police Station.
