19,400 cops to perform duty during Eid in Karachi

KARACHI: IGP Sindh Shahid Nadeem Baloch has directed the police for comprehensive and foolproof security arrangements in all places of worship in city on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
He was reviewing the security plan devised for Baqr Eid by AIG Karachi Shahid Hayat on Tuesday. IGP was told that around 19,400 police officials would be deployed for security of 3,987 mosques, 315 Imambargahs and approximately 600 Eidgahs for Eid prayers, including 37 Jamaat Khanas of Qadiani and Ismaili communities under the contingency plan.
All SSPs, DSPs, SDPOs and SHOs under their supervision will conduct random snap checking and police patrolling around sensitive places in their areas. He was further informed that 560 police mobiles and 187 motorcycle patrolling teams were formed for patrolling, snap checking and police picketing in the city.
A Central Control Room has also been established in the Central Police Office, Karachi, manned by senior police officers to monitor the security situation, with coordination of other police control rooms, said the Sindh Police spokesman.
