18 dead, 23 injured in Ghazni crash

15 February, 2013

GHAZNI: At least 18 people were killed in a head-on collision between two passenger buses on the Kabul-Kandahar highway in southern Ghazni province on Thursday morning, an official said.

At least 23 passengers were wounded in the road crash that occurred in the Nawrozkhel area of Qarabagh district, Ghazni's deputy police chief Col. Mohammad Hussain told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The ill-fated vehicles belonged to the Ahmad Shah Abdali Company, he said, adding police had been sent to the accident site to evacuate the injured to hospital. Further details of the incident were not available, Col. Hussain said.

Four months back, 53 people were killed when a bus of the same company ploughed into an oil tanker in the Aab Band district of the province.

End.
