1,657 polling stations for by-polls declared 'highly sensitive'

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared 1,657 polling stations "highly sensitive" for August 22 by-elections, and granted presiding officers powers of magistrate of first class to hold summary trial of the offenders on the polling day.
According to the polling scheme, polling would be held at 7,622 stations for 16 National Assembly (NA) and 26 provincial assembly seats and some 1,657 polling stations have been declared "highly sensitive".
In Punjab, by-elections would be held on seven NA seats, 15 provincial assembly seats and number of polling stations declared sensitive stands at 724 out of which high sensitive polling stations have been numbered at 297.
In Sindh, by-elections would be held for three NA seats, four provincial assembly seats and number of polling stations declared highly sensitive stands at 819.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, by-elections would be held on five NA seats, four provincial assembly seats and 784 polling stations have been declared sensitive and 345 as highly sensitive.
In Balochistan, by-elections would be held for one NA seat, three provincial assembly seats, while 114 polling stations have been declared sensitive and 196 highly sensitive. Polling for the 16 NA seats would be held on NA 1 Peshawar-1, NA 5, Noshehra-1, NA 13 Swabi-11, NA 25- DI Khan-cum-Tank, NA 27-Lakki Marwat, NA 48 Islamabad 1, NA 68 Sargodha-V, NA 71 Mianwali-1, NA 83 Faisalabad IX, NA 103 Hafizabad-II, NA 129 Lahore XII, NA 177 Muzaffargarh-II, NA 235 Sanghar-II, NA 237 Thatta, NA 254 Karachi-XVI and NA 262 Killa Abdullah.
By-elections for 15 Punjab Assembly seats are to held in constituencies of PP-6 Rawalpindi VI, PP-51 Faisalabad-1, PP-118 Mandi Bahauddin-III, PP-123 Sialkot-III, PP-142 Lahore VI, PP-150 Lahore XIV, PP-161 Lahore XXV, PP-193 Okara-IX, PP-210 Lodhran-IV, PP-217 Lodhran-IV, PP-243 DG Khan-VI, PP-247 Rajanpur-1, PP-254 Muzaffargarh-IV, PP RY Khan IV, PP-292 RY Khan VIII.
By-elections on four Sindh Assembly seats will be held in constituencies of PS-12 Shikarpur-II, PS-64 Mirpurkhas-I, PS-95 Karachi-VII and PS-103 Karachi-XV.
By-elections on four Khyber Pakhtunkhwa seats are to be held in constituencies of PL-23 Mardan-1, PK-27 Mardan-V, PK-42 Hangu-I and PK-70 Bannu-1.
By-elections on three Balochistan Assembly seats will be held in constituencies of PB- 29, Nasirabad-II, PB-32 Karachi-III and PB-Lasbela-I.
