KARACHI: Fifteen people, including two activists of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), a supporter of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and eight labourers, among others, were gunned down in different firing incidents on Thursday.

The most shocking incident took place off the Super Highway when unknown armed men barged into a compound and shot dead eight labourers while they were asleep near the Gabol Market in Quetta Town.

Hubbar Khan, 25, Ghulamullah, 30, Sattar, 25, Gul Samad and Naeem, 25, were killed on the spot while Javed, Muhammad Jan and Nazeer breathed their last at a hospital.

The SDPO and SHO Sohrab Goth rushed to the crime scene and took the bodies and the injured to the JPMC. The MLO JPMC said that all the deceased received multiples bullet wounds.

SDPO Sohrab Goth Qamar Mahmood told that the armed men used Kalashnikovs and 9mm pistols in the attack. The SDPO said that deceased and injured were labourers hailing from Bajaur Agency.

Qamar quoting one of the eyewitnesses said that about nine people riding three motorcycles entered the 'Dera' and opened fire. As a result, eight people were killed.

Separately, Maulana Basheer, 45, was gunned down by two armed men riding a motorcycle near Lucky Star in the Saddar police limits. The MLO JPMC said the deceased received at least five bullet wounds on the upper parts of his body. The SDPO Saddar said that the deceased, a resident of Jet Lane, was a stenographer at the City Courts and also a MQM supporter As the news of the killing spread in the area, MQM activists took to streets and blocked the New Preedy Street forcing shopkeepers to close down their businesses.

Two unknown armed men barged into the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) office near Anda Morr in the Sir Syed police limits and gunned down Abdul Ghani, 25 and Naeem, 25.The MLO Abbasi Shaheed Hospital said that the deceased received four bullets on his upper torso.

In the Gulberg police jurisdiction near Water Pump Chowrangi, Mirza Akhter Baig, 30, was shot dead by armed assailants.Javed Soomro, 22, was gunned down near the Mauripur truck stand in the Kalri police limits by unidentified armed men.

Separately, Khurrum, 40, was shot dead near Nazimabad Chowrangi in Gulbahar police area.In the Mauripur police area, a 25-year-old man was shot dead. Police termed the killing an incident of target killing. The identity of the victim could not be ascertained.
