14 days of teachers' hunger strike in Quetta

11 February, 2013

QUETTA: The hunger strike of the teachers recruited under Aghaz-e-Haqooq Balochistan Package Sunday entered 14th day, as the government remained apathetic to their demand for the confirmation of their jobs.

The teachers observing hunger strike outside the Quetta Press Club for the last consecutive 14 days said that unless the notification of their confirmation of jobs issued, they would continue their hunger strike and the authorities alone would be held responsible in any untoward eventuality.

Haqooq Teachers Association president Muhammad Ismail said that about five thousand teachers were appointed on temporary basis under Aghaz-e-Haqooq Balochistan Package some two and a half years ago and despite passage of such a long time they have not been confirmed to their posts.

End.
