13 lost lives in separate acts of violence during Eid days

KARACHI: Thirteen more people fell prey to separate acts of violence during Eid days in metropolis. In the first incident, during an alleged targeted operation, rangers killed a bus driver within the remits of Sukhan police station. Police said a 32-year-old man, Jan Muhammad, son of Wazir Muhammad, was shot dead when rangers started search operation in Lalabad area and opened fire over resistance. The deceased was the father of three children and hailed from Waziristan. Residents of the area and relatives of the deceased staged a protest and demanded arrest of rangers personnel. Following the protest, police registered an FIR against the accused. A man was shot dead at Kanwari Colony within the remit of Pirabad police station. Police said that Abdul Ghafoor, son of Gulab Khan, was shot dead in Kanwari Colony and his body was later rushed to his home on pushcart by the operatives of TTP. Police sources said that the deceased was the closed aide of Ameer Shair Khan, a TTP chief of Sultanabad area. Sources pointed out that the man used to work for TTP while TTP high ups had found his involvement in various police raids and targeted operations against TTP. A passerby was killed at Lassi Goth within the limits of Model colony police station. An official said that unidentified armed pillion riders opened volley of bullets at the office of Muttahida Organising Committee (MOC) in Lassi Goth area, resultantly a passerby received critical bullet injuries and died instantly. His body was shifted to JPMC for an autopsy where the victim was identified as 16-year-old Jahanzaib, son of Nisar. The deceased was the resident of the same area and hailed from interior Sindh. A man was shot dead while other injured at Nazimabad No. 2 within the jurisdiction of Gulbahar police station. According to police unidentified pillion riders opened volley of bullets at sitting people, resultantly two men, including 35-year-old Mehmood-ul-Hassan and his friend Ejazuddin, were injured. They were shifted to AHS for treatment where during treatment Mehmood succumbed to his injures while doctors termed Ejaz condition critical. A rickshaw driver was killed in North Nazimabad within the remit of Shahrah-e-Noorjahan police station. An official said that two armed riders booked the rickshaw to go somewhere and later killed the driver. His body was brought to AHS for medico-legal formalities. A shop owner was killed at Shadman within the vicinity of Shahrah-e-Noorjahan police station. According to police, armed riders shot and killed a man who was later identified as Fahad, 26, son of Siddique. Police said that the man was on his way to home from his shop when gunmen targeted him at Shadman Town area and managed to flee. The body was brought to ASH for an autopsy. A eunuch was gunned down in Gizri area within the jurisdiction of Clifton police station. Police said that Naseer, 32, son of Samar, was standing with his accomplices when unidentified armed pillion riders shot him and ran away from the scene, resultantly Naseer received fatal bullet wounds and breathed his last on the way to JPMC. A man was killed at Murtaza Chorangi within the limits of Sharafi Goth police station. According to police unidentified men shot dead a man who was later identified as Ghulam Abbas, 35, son of Noor Shah. The body was shifted to JPMC for medico-legal formalities. He said that the victim hailed from Vihari Punjab. A man was shot dead near Gharibabad under bypass within the jurisdiction of Sharifabad police station. According to police Niaz Gul, 23, son of Bacha Gul, was killed near Ghareebabad underpass when two armed pillion riders shot and killed him and fled away. His body was shifted to JPMC for an autopsy. The victim was the resident of Old Sabzi Mandi. A man was gunned down near Abdullah College within the limits of North Nazimabad police station. Police said that 33-year-old Aslam, son of Umar, was hit by two bullets on chest and might have been killed in ongoing spree of targeted killing. His body was shifted to ASH for an autopsy and later handed over the heirs. A body packed in gunny bag was found from ICI road within the limits of Baghdadi police station. According to police, unidentified culprits threw the body from a running vehicle and escaped. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for a postmortem, where the deceased was identified as 26-year-old Arsalan, son of Raees. Police said unidentified culprits first kidnapped him, later penetrated bullet in his body and then threw his corpse at an abandoned place. They said the deceased belonged to Urdu community and was the resident of old city area. Another man was found shot dead in Lassi Mohalla, Baldia Town, within the jurisdiction of Baldia town police station. An official said that the area people informed to police that the body of a man was lying in the area and after getting the information, police rushed to the scene and took the body to CHK for an autopsy where the victim was identified as Kamran, 20, son of Ayub. He said that the deceased was the resident of Baldia town. Similarly, the body of a man was found from Jahanabad within the remit of Pak Colony police station. Police said gunmen abducted the man, tortured him and later shot him dead. The body was shifted the morgue for identification. End.
