12 people killed in violence incidents across city

KARACHI: At least 12 people were killed in separate incidents of violence in different areas of the metropolis on Saturday, police said. In the first incident, three people affiliated with Majli-e-Wehdat-e-Musleeman (MWM) were gunned down at Sabri chawk, Orangi Town within the precincts of Iqbal Market police station. Station House Officer (SHO) Muhammad Sabir said that the deceased were later identified as 25-year-old Ali Nawaz, son of Hussain Nawaz; 27-year-old Ali Husnian, son of Ejaz Husnain, and Hashim Hussain, son of Shah Hussain. He said that victims were going to buy commodity items for their house near Sabri Chowk when armed riders opened fire on them; resultantly, all of them received fatal bullet wounds and died on the spot. The bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities. The officer said that deceased were the resident of Toori Bangash Colony Orangi Town. Ali Husnain and Ali Nawaz worked as technicians at Qatar hospital. Nawaz was also MWM East Finance Secretary, while Hashim was the office-bearer of MWM west zone. After the bloodshed, panic and unrest erupted in the entire vicinity and all commercial and routine activates were suspended due to fragile law and order situation. The SHO said that apparently the killing seemed to have been carried out over sectarian grounds; however, further investigation was underway. Separately, a man affiliated with Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat (ASWJ) was shot dead in Green Town within the limits of Shah Faisal police station. An official said 28-year-old Nadeem Mavia, son of Akram, was standing outside a shop near his house when armed riders shot him multiple times and escaped, resultantly, he received critical bullet wounds and died on the way to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). Meanwhile, three shot-dead bodies were found from Musharraf Colony, Hawksbay Road and Mawach Goth areas within the limits of Maripur police station. SHO Shafiq Tanoli said that the identities of the victims were yet to be ascertained. The bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities. The officer informed that all the victims had been penetrated bullets in their foreheads and the same culprits might have thrown the bodies at separate areas. The SHO informed that all the victims were first kidnapped and later killed. Moreover, another body of man was found form Graveyard in C Area, Liaquatabad within the jurisdiction of Super Market police station. According to police, unidentified armed pillion riders abducted a man and shot him multiple times and threw the body. The body was shifted to the ASH for a postmortem. The police said that the identity of the victim could not be ascertained, while appeared to be around 27-year-old man. Moreover, another shot-dead body of a man was found near Baitul Mukkaram Masjid, Block 16, Gulshan-e-Iqbal within the jurisdiction of Aziz Bhatti police station. According to police, the identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained. Police said that the culprits threw the body from a running vehicle and fled .The body was shifted to the JPMC. Meanwhile, a doctor was killed at his clinic in Kati Pahari near Qasba Colony with in the limits of Pirbad police station. SHO Muhammad Shahid said that armed pillion riders came at his clinic and open targeted fire on 43-year-old Sajid, son of Afzal. As a result, Sajid received multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot. The body was brought to the ASH for medico-legal formalities. The HSO said that victim was father of three children and lived in Sarjani Town. Similarly, a man was killed near his house in Ayub Mor within the limits of Khawaja Ajmiar Nagri police station. SHO Chauhdary Afzal said 32-year-old Ali, son of Owais, was standing near a shop to purchase commodity items in the said area when armed pillion riders arrived and open targeted fire on him, resultantly, he sustained fatal bullet wounds and died instantly. The body was shifted to the ASH for a postmortem. He said that deceased was father of two children ad worked as a ladies tailor in the area. Separately, an aged man was killed near a bus stop of intercity bus service in Quaidabad area within the precincts of Quadiabad police station. An official said that 52-year-old Mian Sahibzada, son of Mundara Khan, disembarked from a bus coming from Swat when ambushed culprits shot him dead and escaped. The body was shifted to the JPMC for a postmortem. The officer said that Sahibzada was the father of three children and worked as a timekeeper of the bus stop. Sahibzada was the resident of the same area and hailed from swat. End.
