Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Wednesday redirected all telecom operators to immediately stop all prize schemes as per order of Islamabad High Court (IHC).

In a letter written to all operators, the Authority said compliance shall be submitted to this effect by March 21 positively.

The letter said on March 8, IHC had dismissed the writ petition filed by Warid Telecom, Ufone, Telenor, Mobilink and CMPak.

In case of non compliance, legal action would be taken.

The Authority had also written a letter to operators for stopping all prize schemes last year as it was regularly receiving complaints from customers regarding such schemes offered by various telecom companies.

The PTA had termed these prize schemes as misleading and against Telecom Consumer Protection Regulation and hence had directed all operators to stop such offerings with immediate effect to avoid any legal action.

End.
