Raja for steps to realise $10bn trade target with Iran

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf said that Pakistan’s relations with Iran were deeply rooted in historical, cultural and religious commonalities. Raja said this while talking to Iranian Ambassador Alireza Haghinghian, who called on him at the Prime Minister’s House on Wednesday.

The prime minister underlined the need of taking effective steps to reach the target of $10 billion that has been set for bilateral trade within the stipulated timeframe. He said that both countries should also ensure expeditious implementation of bilateral projects, including Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline and various electricity projects.
The prime minister also congratulated Iran for taking over the chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement. He said that Pakistan looked forward to working closely with Iran for a positive outcome of summit to uphold principles of NAM.
