Power import plan shelved again

Import of power from Iran has been shelved once again due to non-availability of funds.
Authorities of National Transmission & Dispatch Company (NTDC) informed Senate Standing Committee on finance that the plan to import 1,000 megawatt electricity from Iran has once again been shelved due to unavailability of funds.
According to chief engineer of NTDC Pakistan was responsible for laying down the power transmission line. This required substantial funds which was not made available, he told the Senate Standing Committee on finance.
The agreement for power import from Iran was signed last year after which there had been no progress over it.
