NA Committee surprised at $95B export target

National Assembly's Standing Committee on Trade has expressed surprise at the $ 95 billion export target.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Trade would send the new framework of the trade policy for the approval to the cabinet by next week.

The meeting of NA Standing Committee on Trade held at Parliament House Islamabad and chaired by Eng Khurram Dastagir was informed that the reservations of the Finance Ministry, Planning Commission and other stake holders have been removed over the framework of the new trade policy.

The Committee expressing surprise at the $ 95 billion export target stressed for making it realistic.

The meeting was told that 3 million tons fertilizer is needed for the Rabi crop season of which 2.7 million tons is in stock while the remaining 0.3 million tons should have to be imported of which permission of the import of 0.2 million tons is being approved by the Economic Coordination Committee.

The Committee directed Ministries of Industries and F00d, FIA and other authorities over corruption in the import of fertilizer in the next meeting.

Regarding the cotton export policy the meeting was told that the new plicy has not yet been formulated and the previous policy is being implemented for the time being.
