Gas shortage to worsen in next 3 months

The gas shortage in the country would worsen in next three month thereby resulting in further increase in gas load shedding.

MD of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Arif Hameed has said that gas shortfall during winter increases during winter to as much as 1,000 million cubic feet.

The government and Sui Northern are trying their level best that supply of gas to residential consumers should not be affected. However, in case shortfall increases gas supply to industrial and CNG sectors would be slashed, he added.

He further said that the decline of gas supply from Dhodhak field would not impact Sui Northern's system much. Sui Northern would get 75 mmcdf more gas from Qadirpur field, he said adding that it is expected to receive additional gas also from newly discovered gas reserves.

These new gas discoveries include Latif gas field and Mole's gas field of Kohat.
