Flour Mills to close from Friday across Sindh
17 October, 2012
Flour Mills have decided to to go on strike across Sindh from Friday as a protest against the increase in wheat prices.
This was disclosed by the sources of All Pakistan Flour Mills Association while talking to Our Sources. Sources said that the decision to go on strike is driven by the inferior policies of Food Department Sindh and the attitude of provincial food minister.
The announcement to go on strike would be announced at a press conference on Thursday, the sources added.
Sources further said that not only the Sindh Food Department has increased the official price of wheat by Rs 3 a kilogram compared to last year but far less wheat is being provided to the flour mills against the allocated quota. In addition, the quality of wheat being provided is inferior, sources added.
The closure of flour mills in Sindh is feared to result in shortage of wheat and wheat flour in the province.
