LAHORE – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a fresh domestic cricket structure for the 2025–26 season, aiming to improve quality and give better opportunities to rising talent across the country.
The new setup will kick off on August 15 with the Hanif Mohammad Trophy, a non-first-class event for 12 regional teams. The top two teams from this event will earn a place in the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, which will now feature only eight top sides instead of the previous 18.
The National T20 Cup will also see a major change, introducing a qualifying round before the main event. A total of 522 matches have been scheduled across red-ball, white-ball, and youth formats this season.
The PCB says this streamlined format will promote merit, boost competition, and prepare players for international cricket. Officials also highlighted the importance of youth-level competitions and departmental events in building a strong bench of future stars.
With these updates, the PCB hopes to deliver a more competitive and exciting season for players and fans alike.
